BRIEF

The Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) has been fortunate in obtaining a Grant from The FIA Motor Sport Safety Development as part of the Officials Safety Training Programme. The Grant is being used to conduct a major safety seminar, which will be held in Istanbul from 16 to 18 November 2011, and we wish to offer a limited number of places at this seminar to other ASNs to encourage the sharing of best practice in rallying and racing event safety management.

Our aim is to be able to help increase the level of safety for all those who participate in the sport, whether as competitors, officials or spectators.

The programme for the training is still being finalised, but will include elements of safety in rallying & racing, competitors', officials' and spectators' safety, incident handling and reporting, practical training for intervention & extrication, and the sharing of good practice with regard to safety arrangements and other processes and documentation, including working with authorities. Please note that the seminar will be delivered entirely in English.

We plan to organise the accreditation and general organisation training on Wednesday, rally training on Thursday and circuit racing training in Istanbul Park Formula One circuit on Friday. The seminar will see some high level FIA officials and famous names of the motor sport world, including FIA Formula One World Championship Race Director Mr. Charlie Whiting and FIA WMSC & FIA Institute’s Executive Committee Member Mr. Garry Connelly, as major speakers.

Please also note that free accommodation, including breakfast & lunch and refreshments, is being provided at no cost to the attendees who represent other ASNs during the seminar days.
